Apostolos Samaras

Apostolos Samaras is a Military Veterinarian - Clinical Dietitian-Nutritionist (Captain, Hellenic Army Medical Corps). He is a graduate of the Hellenic Military Academy of Combat Support Officers (HMACSO), a graduate of the Veterinary School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) as well as a graduate of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics of the Harokopio University of Athens, substantially strengthening his scientific background in the connection between veterinary clinical practice and nutritional intervention. He currently serves as a Staff Clinical Dietitian of the Department of Clinical Nutrition - Dietetics of the 401st General Military Hospital of Athens, where he participates in the nutritional management of hospitalized and outpatient cases and in the Food Safety Team, applying a structured, evidence-based approach to nutritional support, while at the same time he holds responsibility as the scientific supervisor for the clinical training of undergraduate and postgraduate students from university departments of Nutrition and Dietetics. Throughout his military career, he has served in positions involving both veterinary and medical responsibilities, including primary veterinary support for military working dogs, food supply inspection and quality control, inspections of military kitchens and affiliated food businesses, as well as staff duties within formations across Greece. In 2020, he was seconded to the Ministry of Civil Protection, where he served as the head of a COVID-19 sampling unit, responsible for team coordination and the operational management of incoming and suspected cases at critical entry and control points across the country. At the same time, he is also active in the private sector as a Clinical Dietitian, providing services in healthcare facilities, including Polygeia and Lifecheck. He is fluent in English.
