Asterios Doukas

Asterios Doukas is a Military Veterinarian and Clinical Dietitian–Nutritionist (Major, Hellenic Army Medical Corps). He is a graduate of the Hellenic Military Academy of Combat Support Officers (HMACSO), the School of Veterinary Medicine of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition of University of Thessaly. Following a scholarship awarded by the Hellenic Army General Staff, he obtained a Master’s degree in “Applied Nutrition and Health Promotion – Clinical/Medical Nutrition” from the School of Medicine of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.He has received training in accredited food and water testing laboratories (ISO 17025) and possesses extensive experience ranging from field operations to documentation and expert assessment, with a practical focus on risk management and protocol implementation. He is also a certified food business trainer by the Hellenic Food Authority (EFET). Throughout his professional career, he has held positions of increased responsibility, including veterinary and training support for military working dogs, veterinary, meat inspection, commercial and public health controls, as well as sampling and microbiological assessment of food and water. He has also been involved in the administrative coordination of activities related to military working dogs, food safety, water, and animal feed at formation level.
In parallel, he has worked in the private sector, providing veterinary services in private clinics, and has volunteered for two years at the Municipal Shelter for Stray Animals of Alexandroupoli, offering veterinary care and expertise.
He is a member of several scientific and professional organizations, including the Geotechnical Chamber of Greece, the Hellenic Veterinary Medical Society, and the Hellenic Dietetic Association, and serves as an Expert Member of the European Society of Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition (ESVCN). He is fluent in English and Russian and currently serves as a Staff Clinical Dietitian at the 401 General Military Hospital of Athens.
