At NutriVets, we collaborate with veterinary practices and clinics, supporting weight-management cases as well as clinical and hospitalised patients that require structured, evidence-based nutritional care. Each intervention is designed in close collaboration with the attending veterinarian and may involve either standard clinical nutrition or specialised artificial nutrition protocols, including oral nutritional support (ONS), enteral nutrition (EN), and parenteral nutrition (PN). 1) Referral and Clinical Assessment • Referral Information: The referring clinic provides the patient’s medical history, suspected or confirmed diagnosis, therapeutic goals, current medication, available laboratory and diagnostic results, and current feeding plan. • Nutritional Assessment: The existing diet is analysed, and the patient’s nutritional status is assessed, including Body Condition Score (BCS) and Muscle Condition Score (MCS), in accordance with established international guidelines. 2) Assessment of Requirements and Nutrition Plan Development • Goals: The required level of nutritional support is determined, whether clinical nutrition or artificial nutrition in cases of malnutrition or hospitalisation. Measurable targets are established for energy and protein provision, as well as for macro- and micronutrient intake. • Diet and Feeding Plan: A specialised nutrition plan is developed according to the selected feeding method. (Oral feeding: food quantities, texture, dietary transition, and treats | Enteral nutrition (EN): formula selection, administration rate, feeding schedule, and tolerance monitoring | Parenteral nutrition (PN): monitoring, modification of the nutrition prescription, and gradual weaning). 3) Delivery of a Comprehensive Nutritional Report • Nutrition Report: A detailed written report is provided, including exact quantities, implementation instructions, monitoring checkpoints, and key precautions. • Care Coordination: A consistent management approach is established between the veterinary clinic and our team, ensuring that the owner receives clear, coordinated, and evidence-based guidance. 4) Collaborative Case Management and Monitoring • Follow-up and Monitoring: The patient’s response is monitored systematically, and the nutrition plan is adjusted promptly according to clinical status, food intake, feeding tolerance, gastrointestinal signs, body weight, BCS, MCS, and laboratory findings.
