The consultation takes place at our facility, allowing for a more comprehensive and detailed assessment. 1) History Taking & Dietary Evaluation • Recording of medical history (conditions, treatments, sensitivities/allergies) • Analysis of current diet (type of food, portion sizes, feeding frequency, treats, supplements) • Discussion of symptoms or concerns (e.g., weight loss, diarrhea, pruritus, allergies) 2) Physical Assessment (when required) • Basic evaluation: body weight, body condition score (BCS), morphology, coat quality, behavior • When necessary, recommendations for laboratory/diagnostic testing (e.g., blood work) 3) Needs Assessment & Goal Setting • Calculation of energy and nutrient requirements based on clinical data and goals • Analysis of factors affecting nutrition (e.g., diabetes mellitus, renal disease, gastrointestinal conditions) 4) Development of a Personalized Nutrition Plan • Tailored dietary plan with options (commercial diets, homemade meals, or a combination) • Guidance on portion sizes, feeding frequency, feeding methods, and gradual transitions where required • Adjustments based on specific needs, restrictions, and the owner’s daily routine 5) Owner Education • Guidance on reading pet food labels and selecting appropriate products • Advice for feeding challenges (e.g., selective eating, reduced appetite) • Answers to questions and practical implementation guidance 6) Monitoring & Adjustments • Scheduled follow-up (typically within 2–4 weeks, depending on the case) • Option for phone or online support when needed • Plan modifications based on progress and outcomes Why choose an in-clinic consultation?
